About Us

Inclusivity & Equity for All

Beloved Yoga has always strived to uphold the principles of purposeful inclusion, with respect to both physical accessibility and economic accessibility of all people. We celebrate diversity of racial and cultural identity, sexual and affectional orientation, gender identity and expression, religious orientation/belief, marital status, family structure, age, mental and physical health, and ability. We are proud to share that the Beloved Sanctuary meets Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards and is ADA compliant.

Beloved Yoga respects the powerful and healing aspects of touch. As a studio, we invite practitioners to learn self-massage and self-assisting methods. Teachers utilize the tools of cueing and demonstration. We do not offer hands-on joint manipulation, pressing firmly or massage during savasana. With practitioner consent, we may offer "touch awareness"  during the practice utilizing fingertips on a point of your body to bring proprioceptive awareness with the permission of the practitioner. Yoga is intended to be a self-empowering practice and we trust you will find that we are not taking anything away from the experience of yoga but giving back the experience to the practitioner. We do not use essential oils in our space and ask our teachers and practitioners not to use any chemicals or fragrances when attending classes.

If you need to have a caregiver attend the class with you for your safety and support, we offer the class to your caregiver at no additional charge.  We honor Virginia state law regarding the rights of persons with disabilities in public places and places of public accommodation and ensure our practitioners access to guide dogs, hearing dogs and service dogs. As per Virginia state law, service dogs are trained to do work or tasks for the benefit of a person with a disability. Virginia's laws do not include service dogs for emotional support. We ask that you please call ahead of time and notify us that you will be attending with your guide/hearing/service dog.

We believe finances should never be a hindrance to accessing the tools of yoga. We offer a range of class prices - from free classes at Southgate Community Center in Reston and free Karma Yoga and Meditation classes virtually and in-studio.

Beloved Yoga recognizes that sometimes we just can’t put aside the monies for yoga. If this is the case for you, we offer the option to write a short paragraph in an email to maryam@Belovedyoga.com and share what is happening in regards to your finances. We will work together to find a solution and make yoga accessible for you!

It is our intention to maintain a safe and inclusive space for all.

We see you, hear you and respect the embodied being that you are!

Our greatest success is achieved in your experience of feeling
at home in the Beloved Yoga Sanctuary.

See you soon and please feel free to reach out with any questions to admin@belovedyoga.com

Beloved Yoga Sanctuary is a serene space with four airy studios to practice group Yoga, two smaller studios for private Yoga, and a well-being room dedicated to the practice of Ayurveda. Beloved Yoga offers over 80 classes per week from beginner to Vinyasa and from prenatal to seniors. Families enjoy the many classes designed for parents to share Yoga with their babies and tots, and classes timed so that children and teens can practice in one studio while adults practice Yoga in another studio. The welcoming 6,500 sq. ft. space includes a Sanctuary gift shop, a lending library, and a lounge for commUnity gatherings.

We carry the teachings of Yoga as codified by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras, taught by Sri Krishnamacharya, and inspired by Hatha, Raja, Bhakti and Tantra Yoga. Our essential teaching is that Yoga was and has always been intended to be customized for the person. We support a practice that meets the practitioner where they are.

At Beloved Yoga, we strongly believe in education and safety.  All of our teachers have studied the ancient art of Yoga and hold a safe and welcoming space free of judgment. The majority of our teachers are trauma-informed and many are certified Yoga Therapists with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) and hold Experienced-Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) accreditation with Yoga Alliance.

Beloved Yoga offers Befriending Yoga Therapy private and small group classes taught by trauma-informed Yoga therapists. These classes are designed to help alleviate physical pain and emotional suffering. Research shows that Yoga aids in alleviating stress, chronic pain, PTSD, lower back pain, heart disease, and in surviving cancer.

For the students who desire to deepen their practice and possibly teach Yoga, the Beloved Yoga School offers a 100-hour Immersion, a 200-hour Teacher Training and a 300-hour Advanced Teacher Training. Beloved Yoga also offers a Prenatal to Labor Doula Teacher Training, Children’s Teacher Training, and the Beloved Yoga Certification Programs. In addition, we offer a wide array of weekly workshops, specialty series, and Ayurvedic services for everyday yogis to explore the ancient philosophy and wisdom Yoga brings forth in peace and unity.
